What is Ambient Ikebana?
Ikebana began with a simple wish — to bring the beauty of flowers found in fields and mountains into our homes, and to keep that beauty close in everyday life. Today, it is also celebrated as a contemporary art form.
Our goal is to help you arrange flowers that harmonize with your space, and express what you feel in this moment.
This is a studio where you are free to create — freely, and in tune with the world around you.
Your instructor, Kayoko Kondo, has taught ikebana to people from all walks of life around the world.
At the heart of her practice is a belief in the importance of always embracing new challenges.
About Our Lessons
Our lessons are held at two locations in Aichi Prefecture — Arimatsu and Kanayama — both known for their beautifully preserved traditional townscapes.
Every lesson is tailored to your own pace. Beginners are guided through the fundamentals, including how to handle tools and work with floral materials.
For those with experience, we focus on developing your individual expression and offer guidance on approaches you may never have considered on your own.

Collaboration with Takeakari — Ise Jingu
A collaboration of bamboo lanterns and ikebana, presented to the public in the grounds of Ise Jingu. The intricate hole-cutting work for the bamboo lanterns was made possible with the support of the team at NTN Tado Manufacturing in Tado, Mie Prefecture.
Chubu Centrair International Airport
At Chubu Centrair International Airport, the aerial gateway to Aichi Prefecture, we collaborated with bamboo lantern artist Kohei Kawabuchi to create a New Year’s floral arrangement. We were delighted to welcome guests from both Japan and overseas.
Collaboration with a Contemporary Artist
At the Arimatsu venue of the Aichi Triennale 2022, we created an installation of bagworms adorned with Arimatsu shibori textiles, commissioned by contemporary artist AKI INOMATA.

Kayoko Kondo
I am engaged in activities that connect with the world through ikebana.
Based in Arimatsu, Nagoya, I run an ikebana school where I focus on lessons that nurture each student’s individuality.
Since 2024, I have been holding an annual workshop in Taipei through my students in Taiwan.
My online ikebana classes are attended by students from Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Spain, Turkey, Switzerland, and the Philippines.
